Yamazaki Mazak Corporation, a Japanese worldwide machine tools manufacturer, is building its first Polish Technology Center in the Załęże district along “DTŚ” intercity road. A construction work started in March, is to be concluded in December this year.
An office of Yamazaki Mazak Central Europe is present in Katowice since 2004 as the main headquarters in Poland. The branch located at 11 Sobieskiego St. hires 21 employees. The number will increase after the new Center’s opening. The company plans to hire up to 40 people.
The Technology Center will not only be the local base for distribution of Mazak’s products but also a place of implementing the company’s newest technology in the area of metal-working. Additionally, a team of service engineers hired in the Center will provide service support to company’s customers and will organize training courses for customers on the Polish market.
The building will deliver 900 sq. meters where 500 sq. m. are designed for exhibition hall where company’s products are going to be presented. Offices and rooms for the training courses will be placed over two storeys covering an area of approximately 400 sq. m. A prime contractor of the building is a Japanese company, Takenaka Europe.
Together with the opening of the first Polish Technology Center, an independent Yamazaki Mazak Poland company will be appointed.
Yamazaki Mazak Corporation was founded in 1919 in Nagoya, Japan. It employs almost 6 800 people worldwide including more than 900 in Europe. The company has 9 factories, with 5 in Japan as well as manufacturing operations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and China. Additionally, Yamazaki Mazak has established more than 30 Technology Centers and 40 Technical Centers in more than 20 countries. Products include multi-tasking machines, CNC turning centers, vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC laser cutting machines, flexible manufacturing systems (FMS), CAD/CAM products and factory management software.
Mazak machines tools are used to produce, among others, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 racing cars. Yamazaki Mazak is also an official supplier and supporter of the F1 team.
