Works on underground bus hub enter final phase

Outfitting of the underground bus station and Dworcowa tunnel entered the final phase. The National Fire Services and the Health Protection Agency will soon commence inspections of the transportation hub.

Meanwhile, construction crews are finishing works on staircases that will connect the bus station with the Railway Station hall. Installations and fittings of the underground level are being currently tested. Road signs were already marked on the surface.

Development of the transportation hub involves also a modernization of the roads around the Railway Station. The new Dworcowa Street, partially located in a tunnel, will lead to the new 10 bus stops, 10 stops for minibuses and taxi, and a two-level underground car park for 1 200 vehicles. The hub will be accessible from both east and west. Moreover, modernization works entail reconstructing the junction of Mikołowska, Matejki, Słowackiego and Sądowa Streets, to the west of the Railway Station, and the crossroads of Pocztowa, św. Jana, and Dworcowa Streets, to the east.

The underground transportation hub is expected to be opened in the months to come.
