The Upper Silesian Aviation Group informed today about three new routes to be launched by Wizz Air from the Katowice International Airport (KTW). Starting from the summer season 2015, Katowice will be connected with three cities in the UK, Italy and Cyprus.
Earlier this year, Wizz Air commenced services to Glasgow and Maastricht-Aachen from KTW and will launch a new route to Belfast in March next year. Bookings can now be made for three additional services – to Bristol, Bolonia and Larnaca. Also, a 180-seated Airbus A320 will be added to the Wizz Air base at the Katowice airport in March 2015. It will be the fifth aircraft of the carrier based at KTW.
The inauguration of the Larnaca route will take place on the 24 of June 2015. The new service will be operated two times per week, on Wednesday and Sunday. First flights to Bristol and Bologna were scheduled for the 26th of June 2015 with two weekly services on Friday and Monday.
„The expansion of our largest carrier and optimistic forecasts of charter flights enable us to expect that 3 million passengers will be handled in 2015 for the first time in the airport’s history. Also, this year we will reach the record-breaking number of travelers amounting to 2,7 million” – commented Cezary Orzech, press spokesman of the Katowice Airport.
