The Polish-Spanish consortium which is preparing the City Center redevelopment plan has to present three design conceptions in February 2010. It will be submitted for opinion to the citizens. The chosen one will be appointed for a further design work until 14th of January 2011. The construction works are possible to start after that date and after finish all administrative procedures as permits and tenders for contractors.
Settlements between the City Hall of Katowice and the Polish-Spanish consortium chosen as a planner of the new center, was presented during a press conference. Four companies composes the consortium. A chief and coordinator of the design process is BPI Redan which will be concerned with a city architecture, green spaces and hydrology (shape of Rawa river banks). Spanish Apia XXI is going to prepare roads and parkings plan as well as an undergound infrastructure and sewers.
The City Hall of Katowice has signed a contract with the Polish-Spanish consortium of Redan, Apia XXI, Apia XXIAK., Biprokom – Kraków SA and Ec-One which will design public spaces of the City Center. The consortium has 16 months to present the final plan. In the first instance, the project schedule assumes to design a new trams track-way and three concepts of the future market square, which will be submitted to the citizens opinion. Next weeks the consortium is going to bring near a concept of design works during the process.
During the last two weeks, citizens of Katowice and parties concerned were witnessed of public presentations and medias revelations about the future City Center redevelopment and the ordered qualification procedure for a package plan of city center land development. The new guidelines for the plan provide changes in an undergroung car parks localisation and a run of Korfantego Av, Moniuszki St and Śródmiejska St which will the new route along the “Superjednostka” flat building.
The City Hall of Katowice announced a qualification procedure for a package plan of the City Center’s land development. The plan should contain a study for two areas – the “Rondo-Rynek” site along Korfantego Avenue (6,7 ha) and the City Center area between railway line and DTŚ route (172 ha).
