Rockwell Automation, which is one of the world’s leading providers of automated industrial drive systems and services, has opened a Product Development Center within a multi-functional plant located in Katowice. The investment, had been mystified thus far, was introduced during the last week’s “Prospects in Poland” conference.
“The decision about opening the center in Katowice was made a couple months ago. By now we have employed 14 high-skilled engineers from Poland and Great Britain. Hiring the team in such a short time was recognized as a huge success as candidates had to comply with high requirements. Further development of the Center will also depend on their skills” – said Sławomir Szpak, General Director of Rockwell Automation Sp. z o.o.
Rockwell Automation is present in the City since May 2006 when the company has started to create its facility at 49 Roździeńska St. designed specifically for its needs. One year later, when the new 13 000 sq. meters plant was opened within the Katowice Special Economic Zone and destined to operate as a production plant, an R&D center specializing in software creation and a joint administrative unit, the firm was announcing to employ up to 350 people over next three years. Today, Rockwell Automation’s Katowice unit hires 530 employees and is the most significant so far investment of the company in Central and Eastern Europe.
- The Katowice branch is made up of following departments:
– Operations Center,
– Financial Shared Services Center,
– Customer Care Center,
– Customer Services and Maintenance,
– IT Center,
– Software Development Center,
– Human Resources Business Services,
– Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing,
– Manufacturing Department,
– Product Development Center.
The branch, whose task is to develop company’s operations in the CEE region, focuses on MV drives, motor control centers, servo motors and safety interlocks.
