Competence Center was opened in Katowice on Monday. The didactic facility will help to develop skills in the area of automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics and mechatronics.
The center is a joint project of the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), Vocational Education Center (ZDZ) in Katowice and the Festo company. The training courses are addressed both to employed stuff and unemployed persons. A few levels of training will be offered to trainees and will depend on their skills. There are three main areas of the didactic methods that will enable to improve the new stuff’s capabilities – these are a production technology, organization of production and social skills.
The Competence Center is located in the headquarters of the Vocational Education Center in Katowice at 10 Damrota St. It covers the area of over 300 sq. meters. 13 two-person work stations were put at trainees disposal: 5 work stations for pneumatics and electropneumatics, 5 for hydraulics and electrohydraulics and 3 for electric drives including software. 26 people can be trained in the center at one time.
„We wanted to create not only a training scheme but also to enforce qualifications and technology improvement. The trainees will be involved to prepare new solutions to be used in companies. At first, we planned to address the courses to automotive companies, however the machines and technology can be adapted for the needs of all production branches” – said Piotr Wojaczek, president of the KSEZ.
While the Vocational Education Center provided the training place, the Katowice Special Economic Zone will be responsible for the project promotion amongst companies and members of the KSEZ. Festo – a worldwide leading supplier of pneumatic and electrical automation technology – was engaged to prepare training tools and equipment.
