The Silesian Philharmonic issued a tender for works on the venue located on Sokolska St. A chosen prime contractor will continue and complete modernization and extension of the seat.

An estimated cost of the works amounts to almost net PLN 29 million. The company will conclude the modernization of the existing building (2 680 sq. m) and the extension of the new facility (2 066 sq. m), of which a rough shell is now completed. Bidders can make offers by 10th of February 2012. The prime contractor will have 18 months to complete the construction work.

Previous works were executing by the consortium of Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Infraestructuras. However, due to building’s poor condition detected during the modernization process and necessity of preparing a new design documentation, the consortium retracted from the contract had signed in January 2010.

On trial of the Silesian Philharmonic, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage – responsible for subsidizing the undertaking – agreed to extend the deadline for implementing the project until 2013.
