New platform 3 opened

PRK Kraków, a prime contractor of the Railway Station’s platforms redevelopment, has conducted works on the platform number 3. It was opened for passengers today.

The modernization took four months as the platform had been closed in the middle of May. Previously, the same company had revamped the platform 2. Now the both platforms got new surfaces, roof and tracks, elements of small architecture, information system for passengers and fittings. Moving stairways and lifts will be installed in the weeks to come.

After the opening of the platform 3, the platform number 1 was closed where some additional works will be done. This platform was redeveloped by the Transkol company last year, however it still needs a steel structure of the roof to be erected.

The modernization of the Katowice Railway Station’s platforms is financed by PKP PLK S.A. – a state-owned company managing railway infrastructure in Poland.
