Ghelamco Polska, a developer of Katowice Business Point (KBP), obtained an ecological BREEAM certificate for this last year constructed office project. KBP is the first building in Katowice and the third in Poland which got the certificate.
Ghelamco requested Grontmij, a leading European consulting and engineering company and approved BREEAM assessor, to evaluate its Katowice Business Point office building. After a thorough post construction investigation, Grontmij awarded the certificate with a “very good” rating. The same mark was given to the previous two awarded office buildings in Poland – Trinity Park III and Crown Square (both developed in Warsaw by Ghelamco as well). However, the final score was the highest for KBP which obtained a mark of 61,02%. Trinity Park III and Crown Square got respectively 56,20% and 58,68%.
Grontmij rated the building by evaluation of, among others, Katowice Business Point’s sustainable management, water and energy saving, ventilation and air conditioning systems, materials used for construction, recycling procedures and working conditions.
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the most respected global building certification method from an ecological perspective. Typically assessed categories include sustainable management, energy and water consumption, air quality inside the building, the use of ecological materials, location, low waste levels and comfortable working conditions.
Katowice Business Point is equipped with the advanced BMS automated management system, raised floor, suspended ceiling system, large glazing enabling unlimited daylight access to the offices and central air-conditioning system. The building offers 17 000 square meter of A-class office space on 11 storeys.
