The City Hall of Katowice and the Polish-Spanish consortium have presented today three concept designs of the City Center in the area of the Market Square. All three schemes will be submitted to the public opinion in February. A chosen concept will be designed in details for the next year until February 2011. An estimated cost of the redevelopment is PLN 262 million but may increase to about PLN 300 million if the City Hall decides about a development of an underground road which is included in two concepts.
The “Rawa” river will be exposed (presently is under the ground). Moniuszki St. will be connected with Piotra Skargi St.
A tunnel between Warszawska and Mickiewicza Streets is planned under the ground. The “Rawa” river will be exposed. A small park is designed near Mickiewicza St.
As in the II concept, a tunnel between Warszawska and Mickiewicza Streets is planned under the ground. The river will be hide under the ground. Three little ponds with water fountains are designed near the “Separator” building.
