Green light for the contract with Polimex-Mostostal

The President of the Public Procurement Office (PPO) finished an ex-ante control of documentation concerning a contract award procedure for a prime contractor of the International Convention Center (ICC) and accepted it without any qualification.

In practice it means the procedure is valid and the decision about choosing Polimex-Mostostal S.A. as the prime contractor stays in force. The PPO, an independent unit within the Polish government, plays a policy making and co-ordinating role for the whole public procurement system and, among others, checks the regularity of conducted public procedures.

The ex-ante control of the PPO President was the last step in compliance with the public procurement law to be fulfilled before signing the contract between the City Hall of Katowice as an investor and the chosen building company. “We expect to sign the contract with Polimex-Mostostal by the end of September” – said Janusz Nowak, Project Manager of the ICC.

The company will raise the ICC for PLN 252,7 million. The building completion is set for 2013. The JEMS Architekci studio from Warsaw is responsible for the design.
