This week, a Consulting Council was appointed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice (CCI, “Regionalna Izba Gospodarcza w Katowicach”). A purpose of the Council is to develop a cooperation between academia and business and to integrate both parties.
The agreement was signed by the CCI, the originator of the venture, and three Upper Silesian universities – the Silesian University of Technology, the University of Silesia and the University of Economics in Katowice as well as representatives of local business.
The Council wants to mostly focus on inspiring companies for a better use of scientific researches and transferring of knowledge into industry. It will also support students in developing creativity and lifelong learning competences.
Additionally, an aim of the Council is to implement proposed solutions in the future teaching programme of the universities.
Computer games at universities
For the first time in Poland, an intercollegiate study for computer games developers will be opened and run next year in the Silesian Agglomeration. The Silesian University of Technology, the University of Silesia, the University of Economics in Katowice and the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice will join forces with the business world on this project.
Student will be able to choose between four different specializations including narration and language translations, project management and marketing of computer games, programming as well as graphics design. Each of the four fields of studies will be conducted by one of the universities. Student will participate in all of the four specializations, however one has to be leading depending on a student interest.
