The Silesian Museum and Śląskie Voivodeship took the next step on December 15th toward building a new PLN 324 million seat for the Museum by entering into affirmative opinion which concerned a substantive and technical evaluation of the project. The verification process of the project co-financed by the European Union’s funds as part of the Regional Operational Programme for Śląskie Voivodeship for the years 2007-2013 was examined by the regional government for Śląskie Voivodeship.
A realization of the new Silesian Museum is approaching. According to a schedule, the construction works will run in 2010. All the process is on the right way as a building permit was already issued by the City Hall. The construction of the new building for the Silesian Museum in Katowice is one of the key undertakings of the Silesian Voivodeship. Now, when the building permit is issued by the City Hall, an architectural vision can be carry into effect. The construction works are to commence in 2010 and it is scheduled to finish them in 2012. The estimated total cost of the undertaking adopted at the time of the competition announcement has been calculated at PLN 240 million. The next stage to follow will be the adaptation of the remaining post-industrial facilities of the former coal-mine.
