At the beginning of October, ten companies have entered bids for construction of a footbridge linking the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s new seat and the International Convention Center. The City Hall of Katowice, an organizer of the competitive tender, revealed a name of the bid-winner last Monday.
From amongst the ten bids, Strabag proposed the lowest gross price for erecting the footbridge over Olimpijska St. According to the public procurement law, the other nine tendering companies have 10 days (since Monday, 12th of November) to lodge an appeal against the decision of the City Hall in the National Appeal Chamber. If none of the companies file the complaint, the City Hall will sign the contract with Strabag.
The City Hall has not yet disclosed the amount of the winning bid. It is only known that the estimated cost of the construction work was PLN 14,3 million. Development of the footbridge will be kicked-off next year.
The 119 meters long footbridge over Olimpijska St. will be the another development located in the cultural district. The design was prepared by Konior Studio. Ayesa Poland is responsible for the detailed project. The footbridge will be illuminated and made of raw, architectural concrete. The pavement will be heated with a designed space for cyclists.
