Advanced Information Technology Center

The University of Economics in Katowice is preparing to build an Advanced Information Technology Center (AITC). Currently, bids are being evaluated. Twelve companies are vying for the contract estimated at PLN 41,2 million. Conclusion of the tender procedure for the prime contractor should be made in a few weeks.

The AITC will be raised on a 0,9ha plot within the University’s campus between Bogucicka and Murckowska streets close at the „Rawa” river.

Silesian contribution to CC PolandPlus

In the name of one of the three “Knowledge and Innovation Communities” (KIC), several universities, research institutions and business partners from the Silesian Agglomeration became a part of “PolandPlus” co-location center (CC PolandPlus). The Agglomeration is represented by the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal from Zabrze, the Central Mining Institute and Tauron Polska Energia S.A., both seated in Katowice.

Katowice delegation visited the United States

From 26th of June to 1st of July, representatives of the City Hall of Katowice, including mayor Piotr Uszok, Katowice Special Economic Zone and Silesian University of Technology members and local businesspersons participated in a delegation to the United States. A key role of the delegacy was to promote Katowice among American companies and to present the City as a BPO destination.

On Monday, 27th of June, the Katowice Summit 2011 business conference was held in New York City.
