Silesia City Center welcomes Terranova

One of the most wanted clothing brands by Silesia City Center’s customers joins the list of tenants of the shopping mall. The store of Terranova was opened at the beginning of December.

The store will cover more than 1 000 sq. meters of retail space. “For a very long time the brand was recognized as one of the most expected in Silesia City Center by our customers. The most wanted was H&M has been operating in the mall since October 2011” – said Ilona Szafer, director of lease department at SCC.

Shell completed, outfitting underway

Budimex has concluded works on the building shell of the new Silesian Museum’s seat and is now conducting advanced outfitting works.

The roof of the underground facility is soon to be covered up with a special trottoir. Then, only six glass boxes and an administration office building will be seen above the ground. Glass slabs of the boxes providing daylight for the interiors started being installed. Outfitting works are underway at all levels of the 36 000 sq. meters underground interiors.

Tender issued for International Convention Center

On Tuesday, the City Hall of Katowice issued a competitive tender for finishing works on the International Convention Center (ICC). The previous contract with Polimex-Mostostal was withdrawn by the City Hall in September due to, among others, delay of the construction work.

Tendering companies can enter their bids by 30th of January 2013. The lowest price will be decisive. A chosen prime contractor will have 16 months to deliver the 37 900 sq. meters building.

Silesian Museum shows extension plans

Despite the construction of the Silesian Museum’s new seat is still underway, a concept work has been already commenced on the future extension of the complex. On Tuesday Leszek Jodliński, director of the Museum, presented a draft design of the land development to be implemented in the years to come.

The fore-mentioned area is situated north from the new seat and is also part of the former “Katowice” coal mine.

ING Services Polska expands in Katowice

ING Services Polska (ISP) expands its data center in Katowice and will create a new research and development unit within a project co-financed by the European Union. A total cost of the undertaking amounts to PLN 80 million.

According to the Polish Press Agency, more than 150 new workplaces will be created by mid-2015. Part of the costs (PLN 12 million) will be covered by the EU’s funds of the Operational Programme Innovative Economy.
